Amidst the biggest merchant shipping boom since 2008, Port of Felixstowe of the United Kingdom gets to see the biggest container ship ever made. The biggest container ship MV Ever Ace gas docked at Felixstowe, Suffolk on early Sunday morning. The 400 ft long giant with capacity of carrying 23,992 containers is on her maiden voyage.
The rebound in container shipping has accounted for the best ever performance for container lines in the second quarter of FY 2021. 11 container lines that amount to 65% of the container freight market have earned more than $18 billion; a historic record in itself.
The escalation in container shipping has pushed these giants to accommodate more supersized containerships in their fleet to magnify their presence in the profit party. MV Ever Ace is the part of a similar plan of 12 supersized container ships for the Taiwanese container line- EVERGREEN MARINE.
MV Ever Ace is scheduled to leave for Rotterdam on Wednesday and then she would proceed to Suez Canal- blocked by her sister ship MV EVERGIVEN. MV Ever Given witnessed dozens of shipping enthusiasts when she arrived at Port of Felixstowe last month. Felixstowe has been a charming halt for these big container ships- MV Ever Ace Sunday Morning, the infamous MV Ever Given- last month, MSC Gulson- last year and many more.
